Returning for his eleventh season, Blue Marlin Ibiza resident DJ Oscar Akagy has cultivated a magnetic sound with a boundless trajectory. The artist has earned a reputation for energetic, encompassing sets that put groove at the centre, viewing the art of DJing as a shared experience between himself and the audience. Taking the reins at Blue Marlin Ibiza, Oscar Akagy will build an atmosphere where the music beckons people to dance.

When it comes to your music, where have you been drawing inspiration from?
From my desire to create a unique experience for my audience. I am inspired by the energy that is generated when I perform. The diversity of sounds and rhythms in my music create an emotional connection with people.

How do you prepare for a set both mentally and creatively?
I visualise what I want my performance to be like and the type of energy I want to convey.
I carefully choose tracks that fit the event and the audience I am playing to. I am open to changing my set on the spot depending on their reaction as well as the conditions of the event.

What has been your most memorable moment at Blue Marlin Ibiza?
I have so many beautiful days in my memory, but one of the most memorable was when I closed the night after Jamie Jones and Art Department. The place was packed to capacity and the crowd went wild for my set. I remember that even after the music finished, people kept clapping for quite a while – it was an amazing Sunday!

What energy do you plan to bring to the stage this summer?
This summer I am excited to bring an energy that is fun and full of good vibes. My goal is to create an atmosphere where the music invites people to dance and enjoy Blue Marlin Ibiza to the fullest. I will carefully select a mix of songs that will keep the energy high and the atmosphere lively.

What makes Ibiza such a special place in your eyes?
As a resident of Ibiza, the island has unparalleled natural beauty. From stunning beaches with crystal clear waters to its mountainous landscapes, every corner is simply spectacular. The sunsets here are magical and I always find peace and serenity as I watch the sun go down.
